SRPC
History: How did we get here?
The
Seneca Regional Planning Commission held their organizational meeting
on January 10, 1995.
Resolutions were passed by the Cities, Villages, Townships and
Commissioners to participate, pay assessments, and appoint
representatives to the thirteen-member board.
100% participation by all entities continues and is the key to
SRPC’s successes.
Some of those successes includes:
Standardized Rail Crossings; creation of the Seneca County Park
District; development of Subdivision Regulations, Construction Codes,
and a Comprehensive Land Use Plan; and ratification of numerous
sewer/revenue sharing agreements. TOP

Responsibilities: What we do?
The
Seneca Regional Planning Commission is responsible for:
Maintenance and distribution of the County’s Geographic
Information System (GIS); enforcement of the Subdivision and Flood
Plain Regulations; administration of the Community Development Block
Grant (CDBG) program, including the Fair Housing component; assistance
to County’s economy through Economic Development Grants, Revolving
Loan Fund Dollars, Enterprise Zones, and Community Reinvestment Areas.
At the same time, we strive to balance development with the
guidelines adopted in our Comprehensive Land Use Plan of 2001. TOP
